The Uyghur Human Rights Crisis: A Conversation

Join the BASIS Academic Committee for a Conversation on the Uyghur Human Rights Crisis with Uyghur Student Alerk Ablikim and Dr. Casper Wits of the Institute for Area Studies at Leiden University!

This event will be presented as a conversation with Uyghur student activist Alerk Ablikim and give students a chance to ask questions on the current human rights crisis faced by Uyghurs in China. Student Alerk Ablikim and Dr. Casper Wits will present China’s international goals and economic reasons for repressing the Uyghur ethnic group within its borders as well as shed light on the current Uyghur experience.

Spots are very limited so in-person acceptance is not guaranteed, however they will be given on a first come first served basis – the event will be broadcast for those who cannot attend in person.
