Visibility Politics & Climate Change

03/03/2022 @ 17:15

Interested in the interrelationship between politics, human rights and climate activism? Join the BASIS Academic Committee for a talk on the ‘Decolonisation and the Indigenous Fight against Climate Change’ given by Raki Ap and Dr. Casper Wits 🌍

Raki Ap is a civil servant at the Ministry of the Interior, storyteller, and political activist. Well known as both a climate activist and anti-racism campaigner, he emphasizes the importance of the indigenous perspective in solving these issues. With his roots in West Papua, Raki brings attention to the oppression of his people, and how it is linked to the history of Dutch colonization.

On March 3rd at 17:15 in Room 2.01, Raki will share his story and explain how all these issues come together with his entry into politics as a candidate in the local elections right here, in The Hague📍
