MeCo meets NGO Mwatana: Defending Human Rights in Yemen

The Middle East Committee is honored to host Radhya Almutawakel, co-founder and chairperson of Mwatana for Human Rights.

Mwatana is an independent Yemeni organization involved in defending human rights. In 2018, the Baldwin Award recognized their work. Human Rights First announced awarding the 2018 Roger N. Baldwin Medal of Liberty to Mwatana. In the same year the 10th International Hrant Dink Award has been granted to Mwatana for informing the world about the status of human rights in Yemen and for struggling against the rights violations in the country.

The event will begin with an introduction to the conflict in Yemen presenting the different parties involved from a non-partisan perspective. Followed by insight into the work of Mwatana for Human Rights, and what it means to work as a human rights organization in the face of political and humanitarian crisis.
Followed by discussion round with the audience.
