Hola a todxs!
Our hips don’t lie nor does this fun-guaranteed Champeta workshop! Dance the deadlines away and learn how to move like Shakira at the Superbowl with the help of the dance teacher Viktoria Flück!
The virus might take away our team sports but it will never take away our will to defy the cold in our fingers as we hold onto our third cup of coffee. What better way to spark that Latin fuego in our bodies than by dancing our hearts out?!
This time our renowned Latin Night will be dedicated to Champeta, a dance that originated on Colombia’s Carribean Coast among inhabitants of African descent. It gained popularity as a social movement, which continuously reflects the resilience and pride of the Afro-Colombian cultures responsible for its creation. As such, it was met with hostility by Colombian politicians and the social elite, since they considered it to be of lower social status. However, attempts to ban Champeta only strengthened its popularity. Just this year, Shakira performed Champeta on the Superbowl stage alongside many other marvellous Colombian dancers.
What are you waiting for? Save yourself some heating costs and put some Latin tunes on because this online event will get you moving! The tickets are available on the BASIS website (€2 for BASIS members and €4 for non-BASIS members, just log in to claim the discount):
