In a 3-hour workshop session, including breaks, participants will cover the following topic: culture shock in phases, Intercultural communication, and safety in, around and outside the classroom. The workshop will also include a number of exercises in smaller groups.
The workshop will be given by a professional trainer and includes coffee/thee/water.
This is an opportunity to develop your leadership skills and build bridges.
About the speaker
Elizabeth den Boer studied Comparative Religion and Psychology of Religion at Leiden University, and obtained her Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology at the Radboud University in Nijmegen with a study on the transitional function of dreams of the indigenous people of Suriname and Australia. She has conducted fieldwork in Suriname, The Netherlands and India. She lectured in courses such as Religious Studies, Hinduism and History of Culture at Leiden University, the Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Anton de Kom University of Suriname and the University of New Delhi. Her research focus shifted from indigenous people of Suriname and Australia, Religion and Dreams to Contemporary Hinduism and the Anthropology of Food.
Presently holds the position of coordinator of studies and study adviser at Leiden University. In addition to this position, she also conducts workshops in the field of inter- and cross-cultural communication.
Registration to this event is compulsory and requires a modest fee of €2.
