Guest Lecture on the Situation in Myanmar

12/05/2021 @ 19:00 - 20:00

Hi everyone!
Next Wednesday, May 12th at 7 PM on Zoom, the SSEA Committee is organizing a guest lecture on Myanmar.
Following a military coup on February 1st, elected leader Aang San Suu Kyi and other members of her National League for Democracy (NLD) party were detained. Since then mass protests have been taking place and hundreds of people, including children, lost their lives.
The lecture will be given by Dr. A. de Mersan, a French anthropologist specialized in Myanmar and chaired by Dr. J.W.P. van den Boogert, tutor of History, Culture and Language South and Southeast Asia.
The event will commence with a 45-minute lecture about the current crisis in Myanmar and the implications this has for the Southeast Asian region as a whole. Afterwards, it is possible to ask all your questions regarding this topic during the 45-minute Q&A.
The link to the Zoom meeting will be added prior to the event. The event is open to everyone so we hope to see you there!
