Eurasia Committee: What Is It Like to be An Election Observer?

14/05/2019 @ 19:00 - 20:00

International Observers play an important role in democratic elections worldwide by ensuring objective assessments of the fairness of election procedures. Hereby, they add domestic and international legitimacy to elections.

But did you know that you, as a student, can become an official election observer as well? If you want to know what it is like to be an observer, or if you are simply curious about the experience of three of our students on their mission to Ukraine, come to our special event coming Tuesday.

Last month, our alumnus Armand Spahija (Arie) and our third year students Boris Kowalski and Tijs van de Vijver joined Silba – Initiative for Dialogue and Democracy on their Election Observation Mission to Ukraine. Here, the three students served as Official International Election Observers in the first round of the Presidential Elections. They will give you an insight in what it is like to be an election observer, what your impact is as election observer, and how you can become an international election observer yourself. Their presentation will be followed by a Q&A!

Interested? Put going and invite your friends to tag along!
