BASIS North America Committee

North America is a fascinating region to explore, from its rich history to its influence on global events today. Our focus is primarily on the United States, its policies and culture  and their far-reaching effects. Of course, we also explore Canada and Mexico. We try to understand the diverse perspectives that shape North America as a whole, while building an inclusive community of students.

We aim to organize both academic and non-academic events focusing on North America, including panel discussions, debates, embassy visits, movie nights, study sessions, social events and more.

North America Student Community in The Hague

BASIS North America in The Hague offers students the chance to explore the history, politics, culture, and economy of the United States, Canada, and Mexico through a multidisciplinary approach. We want to gain unique insights into transatlantic relations and the interconnectedness of the region.

For Partners

The Bachelor Students of International Studies (BASIS) North America Committee is always eager to collaborate with embassies, North America focused NGOs and institutions, researchers, and other study associations. In short, we welcome all organizations that share our passion for the region. Representing the students of International Studies with a regional specialization in North America at Leiden University, we take pride in being one of the few study organizations devoted specifically to North American studies. This makes us an ideal partner for organizations seeking to engage with the next generation of leaders in transatlantic relations.
