In the context of the course History: Latin America, Dr. Soledad Valdivia Rivera, Dr. Natalia R. Donner and BASIS Latin America committee invite you to the screening of a critically acclaimed Chilean film ‘El Botón de Nácar.’ Linking the foundational genocide of Indigenous peoples to the dictatorship violence in the 20th century, the film presents an opportunity to dive into the history of colonialism, the context of the Cold War, and contemporary memory in Latin America.

The screening will be followed by a discussion on decolonialism and history of Latin America with professors for Latin American studies:
