Make It Work: Your career in East Asia

27/11/2018 @ 17:00 - 18:30

It’s time for the first event of our Make It Work series!

MAKE IT WORK
The purpose of BASIS Career Committee is to provide students with prospects for their future academic and professional career. Regarding BA International Studies, these prospects can be quite broad. Make It Work gives insights to the various regions we are studying. We invite guest speakers who have experience working in or with the region or who have studied there. Questions we want to answer:
What possibilities are there for Bachelor student (i.e. to get an internship)?
What is it like to live there as student/expat (i.e. visa, housing, language)?
Why would it be interesting for you to work/study in this region?
How is the culture and society like and what are the do’s and dont’s?

YOUR CAREER IN EAST ASIA
In collaboration with East Asia Committee, we will host Dolores van Dongen who has more than 20 years of experience of working in East Asia, particularly in China.
As former Leiden University and Fudan University alumnus she preoceeded as Chief representative for KLM in Beijing, founded a non-profit organisation for children with special learning need ins Beijing, and has been working for EY in Amsterdam and Hong Kong.

THE EVENT:
After a introductory presentation, there will be a Q&A session where students can ask anything from questions about Chinese education institutions, working at a non-profit organisation to working at a large global organisation such as EY.
